Inspiration of the day

It’s been a while since I shared any inspirational quotes I’ve come across and trying to find time to calm your mind and fully appreciate the day can be quite hard when you’re in a routine where you’re always busy and never have time for yourself. Instead of sharing a quote from a philosopher or advocate, today I want to share with you a thought that recently has really resonated with me.

You will always face challenges in your life, but each one is a stepping stone to getting where you want to be.

It might sound like a clichéd thing to say, but it has been something I try to embrace more in the last year. Life isn’t full of positive experiences; we get the good with the bad, just so we learn never to take the positives for granted. The negatives also teach us lessons to help us learn about life and our views on certain matters.

Our life is a constant struggle, trying to make changes that we think will make us happy, but it’s not material goods or money that we can find happiness in, it’s our state of mind. We will always battle desires with need; if we had some money or one handbag or expensive, we will always want more. Make the changes that you feel will help you feel more at ease and happy with yourself. Happiness comes from within.

I have battled with self-acceptance, the demons and thoughts that come with an introverted mind most of my life and participating in sports has helped calm that energy somewhat. It wasn’t until I took the step to become vegan (after hovering on the other side of the fence for a few years) that I realise I made the best decision in my life…for me. I’ve always wanted to be part of something bigger, to have an impact on society and the environment and this is one of my contributions.

This is not to say you should become vegan too, but think about what you really want, what will make you happy and take that leap of faith. Even if it doesn’t work out, at least you won’t be wondering what would happen if you took that chance. We believe the grass is always greener on the other side, but sometimes you learn the grass is just as green on the other field as the one you’re in. Staying static in one place when you’re not happy or feeling restless isn’t going to change. To find peace and happiness, make the change that will bring you happiness. Sometimes you will find a field with more flowers and that’s exactly what you need, but you need to take that step to find it.

What step are you thinking about taking towards making a change, but aren’t sure if it’s worth it?
