Last week, several bloggers were invited to the launch of the pop up shop for The Tartan Blanket Company. Owners Emma and Fergus started the company in November 2014 after moving back to Edinburgh to London. They wanted to build a business based on beautifully designed products which incorporated their love for Scotland.

We wanted to offer the customer good value for money as well as a great shopping experience from our vibrant and easy to use website, fantastic customer service, to our fast delivery with beautiful packaging.
We source our blankets from around the world. We work with 2 different Scottish Mills to offer a great range of Luxury Tartan Blankets in Lambswool and Cashmere, which is of the highest quality you will find anywhere. We also work with international mills to source new and recycled wool blankets which are acceptable to anyone. We feel that this means that all our customers are able to find something to fit their budget and still get the full TBCo. experience. We have also expanded our range in the last few months to now include scarves, capes, candles, jewellery and home decorations, which really compliment our blanket range.
Launching our pop-up shop has been a great experience so far, as it has allowed us to meet and get to know our existing and new customers and hear all their great feedback. We are also proud to be an independent Scottish company and part of the up and coming Leith business community.
As an independent company, we reply on everyone in our small team working incredibly hard and being very creative to make our brand so special.

Launch night was a huge success. The minute you entered the store you were warmly welcomed by a member of staff with a glass of Prosecco (or juice if you were driving) and invited to pick an envelope from the Christmas tree. Little did we know, we were getting an early Christmas present on behalf of the shop! Guests received a discount to spend in store within the next 7 days, a free Heritage Collection scarf or a free candle of their choice.
Everyone had a great time browsing the beautiful woollen and cashmere products. There is a wide range of choice of tartans, patterns and colours to suit everyone. For those decor-oriented, we also found ourselves gravitating towards the wooden postcards and wall art, glass jars and beautiful organic jewellery in the glass display counters.

I didn’t know what I wanted when I was there on launch night, there were too many cosy looking blankets and scarves to choose from. I went home to think about the soft textures and beautiful shades I saw in the shop and also had another look at the products on their website. I finally decided on the beautiful Lifestyle New Wool Scarf in Berry Herringbone, a lovely shade of pink that isn’t overpowering with the classic herringbone pattern.
A nice pop of berry colour, subtle enough without being too bright worn around your neck for the winter!
I know what I want with my 30% discount, but I wondered what the staff would choose if they had to pick a favourite product.

Classic Lambswool Scarf in Petrol and wine! I don’t seem to have taken mine off since I bought it.
I’m a big fan of the classic Lambswool blanket scarf in Mackellar tartan, I use it for chilly nights at the Christmas market AND to snuggle up on my commute to work 🙂
Luxury Lambswool Blanket Scarf in Stewart Camel Weathered Tartan for me, I am never without a blanket scarf! Perfect for staying cosy all year round.
I would say the Lifestyle Blanket in Pink Blossom Beehive, as it is so warm and cosy and a lovely dusky pink colour.
I love our new candles! They have our very own branding all over them and they look just beautiful! The Mulled Pear and Spices scent is my favourite- but they all smell wonderful and have really impressive burn times!
