Inspiration of the day

I’m guilty and I know it.

I’m guilty of trying to succeed and gain approval from my superiors at work that I haven’t really been focusing on being happy, in myself and with the smaller things in life I should really appreciate. I’ve lost sight of what it means to be happy with the little things in life and get so consumed in trying to do everything and making sure everyone else is happy that I haven’t even added any new memories or quotes to my Positivity Jar. Sometimes, you need to choose what’sbest for you and if people leave because they can’t be happy for you in your success and finding happiness, then maybe they’re not worth the effort and energy.

A quote that keeps coming back to me is that to be happy, you need to keep positive people in your life and surround yourself with them. The infusion of positivity around you will help you to think in a more positive manner. You shouldn’t be ashamed of your own success and achievements just because someone you know is envious of how far you’ve come. You’ve worked hard to get to where you need to be, so be proud.

I’ve learned that the ones who are true friends will stick by you, no matter what. They’ll be there by your side to pick you up when you fall and cheer you on the way. They’ll be there to celebrate with you when you reach a milestone or find happiness one way or another.

I’ve made lots of friends along the way who have been part of significant changes in my life, but there are some who have drifted away as my life moved in another direction. I can count 3 friends of mine whom I’ve known since I was 9 that I still keep in touch with; my very best friend I’ve known since I was 5 and still keep in touch with. Despite the fact that we’re living in different countries and have busy lives, we make time to see each other and catch up like we only just saw each other last week.

Don’t hold onto memories of what things could’ve been. You move forward in your life on your journey to happiness and finding yourself. The ones who are meant to be in your life will be happy to walk beside you and see where life will take you till the end, whenever that may be.
