I am asking you to sponsor my challenge in memory of friends and family who have been affected by cancer by donating through my Just Giving page.
Macmillan Cancer Support was first founded in 1911 as the Society for the Prevention and Relief of Cancer by Douglas Macmillan who experienced his own father’s struggle with cancer. To this day, the charity supports those diagnosed with and living with cancer and providing support in all areas, including help for carers, family and communities.
I’ve lost friends and family over the years to various forms of cancer and this charity holds a special place in my heart for the help and support they provide. In particular, one friend’s passing deeply affected me. My dear friend from University, Njeri, bravely fought cancer till the end. On 4th October 2012, I lost a genuine, honest and deeply loving friend who didn’t believe anyone could have a bad bone in their body while her family lost a beautiful daughter, sister and friend.
On the night of the 28th, I’ll be pushing through 3 hours instead of my usual hour-long session in addition to my usual classes the rest of the week. I’ll be pushing through the night with determination to succeed in Njeri’s honour and memory, as well as family members I’ve lost. I’ll also be remembering one friend’s victorious win against her battle with cancer.
To participate, I only had to make the minimum donation of £5 which I felt was overgenerous on Macmillan’s behalf. It is for this reason, I have set up my own Just Giving page and hope to find more sponsors to support my challenge. You can donate as much as you want or as little as £1, every little bit helps. You can also donate by text for free using the message ‘CMBT 60 £xx’ to 70070.
Note – As an incentive for all sponsors, here are the perks I’m offering:
If you donate £5 – Your name on my list of sponsors on my blog, DIY Shopaholic
If you donate £10 – Above and a handwritten personal letter of thanks
If you donate £20+ – Above and a handmade piece of jewellery
