It’s no secret that quite a few international and big affordable labels like H&M and Target have collaborated with bigger designer houses like Versus by Versace and Lanvin to give the less affluent members of the public who want to own a piece of premiere designer goodie but can’t always afford the matching price tag. In some ways, I think some designer houses recognised this and the collaboration was also a way for them to reach the masses.
Having to try and save up for all my trips this year (that’s 3 down and 3 to go!) and for the wedding venue deposit, I’ve barely had time to contribute towards my designer bag fund. Remember how I raved about the mini Pashli satchel from 3.1 Phillip Lim in my previous blog post? Here’s another great designer who’s caught onto the trend and is coming to the masses!
3.1 Phillip Lim x Target range, set to hit Target stores in September this year
First dibs on the news came from the Purse Blog where it was announced that some of the classic bags from the designer, like the Pashli, will be introduced in the 3.1 Phillip Lim x Target range. According to the Purse Blog:
Some fans will probably be mad at the Pashli spin-offs, but it’s exactly the type of bag that Target would imitate anyway, so Lim might as well get some of the credit (and revenue) for those cheaper versions.
Quite true, but if other replica sellers are going to be ‘re-producing’ the classic Pashli, why not get a more affordable version that comes with the official designer tag? We don’t have Target here in the UK, but you can bet your pennies and pounds that when it hits stores, I’m going to be doing my best to try and get my hands on one of the the ‘faux-leather’ mini Pashli satchels! The real calfskin leather mini Pashli costs US$650 (approx. £422), whereas the prices for the 3.1 Phillip Lim x Target range is reportedly going for between US$20-50 (approx. £12.83 to £32.08). Who could ask for more?
The 3.1 Phillip Lim x Target collection is set to hit Target stores 15 September.
What are your thoughts on the 3.1 Phillip Lim x Target collection? Would you try to get your hands on one?
